(I, for one, think that the Japanese can build a lot more than radios...but this article certainly emphasized some other points I've overlooked...)

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.
When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.
When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped.
The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.
I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the
Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?
Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon -! not once, but several times - and safely home again.
You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.
When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the
Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an
old caboose. Both are still broke.
I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble?
I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Thanks for posting that Vizon. That?s how I?ve always felt about how the world treats Americans.
Every time I see our tax dollars and rescue people going to other countries to save people from natural and man-made catastrophes, I know there?s not going to be any gratitude. I?ve become really cynical and wonder why the hell we keep doing it. We?re the world?s doormats. Hell even a lot of Americans have bought into this ?The US owes everyone, but when we pursue our own interests we?re meddling imperialists? crap.

There?s this girl in one of my classes who?s like that. Before this attack happened she was bragging about how she met Yassir Arafat and that he?s such a great guy and that she supports countries downtrodden by the USA and that she has a Moslem boyfriend yadda yadda yadda?. Well last Friday she started trying to blame Americans for the attacks and everyone just stared at her like she was spewing obscenities. (Which she was IMO) She got the drift and shut-uped. This is a pretty diverse class of many races and nationalities, and everyone was offended. I guess that means people are starting to appreciate us, too bad it had to take a catastrophe like this. But I bet it won?t last.

Folks, we haven?t done anything to provoke these attacks. There?s no message in them. The criminal who masterminding them just wants to cause as much death and suffering as he can. He'll use whatever political grudges and screwed up religious notions to brainwash his lackeys into killing innocent people that he can think of. And he's not going to stop no matter how much we agonize over what our government has done in the past. His reason are simply because American infidels (a term that goes way back to the time of the Crusades-try blaming that on America!) set foot on Saudi Arabian soil. Nothing more! We have to go after this creep, and tear up this terrorist network. Not doing so will result in more innocent deaths in many countries, not just our own.

I don't know politics. I don't understand it at all. It's all over my head. Far away beyond Neptune or so. I don't know what any country has or has not done. I have no clue.

But I believe, I suspect - but I do not surely know - that hate feeds hate, breeds more hate. Hate grows hate. That is what I think.

We all know that Nightcrawler is the one of them that knows 'Xavier's dream' the best, that follows its path more accurate than many other X-Men or men <font size="1">(not the gender, but the 'species')</font> in general. Nightcrawler fights, but he does not fight 'wars', he fights the one(s) responsible. Uhm, sorry, I don't know where I'm going... I must have trailed of somewhere.

Please, all of you that's hurt one way or the other (wether it's from the recent terrorist attack or something else), don't hate. Love instead. I don't say you must love the one(s) responsible (even though I believe that would be the best), but love each other. Don't hate, but do instead heal and smile.

A smile does so much.
